Repairs to the manse (which suffered less extensive damage than the church building) are nearing completion. We are still waiting on some utility connections, but prayerfully Pastor Cooper, Hannah and kids will be able to move back into their home by the end of the week! 11/4 UPDATE: The pastor’s family are now moved back into the manse!!!
The scope of the work on the church basically involves a complete renovation of the interior – walls, flooring, electrical, cabinets, kitchen, seating, etc. have to be replaced. It will not look exactly the same (chairs will replace the pews that have been ruined), but it is also an opportunity to redesign the space we have to better suit our needs and replace some of the older fixtures that were in need of it anyway.
We are so grateful for the OVERWHELMING GENEROSITY of churches, the PCA denomination, ministries, and individuals that are assisting us with service, contributions, and prayer support. I want to single out two in particular: The Knights of the Kingdom from Lebanon, PA is a ministry of men from Bible-believing churches in the Lebanon valley and they sent a large team who worked tirelessly for 4 days this week including skilled electricians and construction who accomplished an amazing amount doing things that our church body could never have done on our own! Secondly, the nearby congregation of Faith Presbyterian PCA church in Morganton, NC is making major contributions towards supplying what is needed for renovation, and many of the wonderful people of Faith have been here contributing their time and organizing much of the restoration work. We are also very grateful that Crossnore Elementary School and its principal have been so gracious and supportive in continuing to allow us to use the library to meet, even as schools prepare to reopen.
Of course we would prefer the flooding damage never happened, but to see the love of fellow members of the body of Christ from near and far that has been poured out in our behalf is a wonderful thing that those of us at Fellowship will never forget! Thanks to all of you!
